Downtown Los Gatos businessman Ed Stahl had $14 in his pocket when he arrived in the Bay Area in 1956. Through a series of flukes, he landed a job which took him to Los Gatos. In 1961, Stahl bought Travel Advisors of Los Gatos, with his late wife Betty, a California native. Stahl and Travel Advisors have persevered through economic recessions and perhaps more importantly, the advent of the Internet that saw many travel agencies go under.

Ed Stahl is the 2015 Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year. At this time, Santa Clara County Supervisor Mike Wasserman recognized as the Citizen of the Year and El Camino Hospital Los Gatos also honored as the Non-Profit of the Year. Carl Guardino was the Special Guest Speaker and Chicago Steve Barkley was the Emcee and Guest Performer for the evening.

Stahl said joining the Rotary Club of Los Gatos in 1966 was a strategic business move that still pays dividends because he got to know community members he might not otherwise have met.
